Share a reel. It listens, checks what was said, and shows the sources.
BS Meter fact-checks short videos directly from Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. A sober, clinical instrument for claims circulating your feed—built with epistemic humility and primary citations.
A count, not a score. An overall band you can calibrate.
A single percentage hides the thing that matters. A reel can state five true dates and wrap them around one false medical claim. BS Meter checks each claim on its own, counts how many didn't hold up, and places the whole reel in one of five bands, weighted towards the claims the video is actually built on.
Checks out
Everything central that it stated as fact held up against the evidence.
Mostly solid
The main argument holds. A detail or a side claim is off.
Shaky
Some of what it stated as fact didn't hold up, enough to doubt the rest.
Misleading
Important claims are false or bent out of shape, even if some facts are right.
Bullshit
The claims the video is built on are false.
How a check starts.
Built as a native Android utility that docks cleanly into your operating system. No clumsy copy-pasting of URLs or transcribing creator audio by hand.
Tap it to listen; drag it out of the way. It hears only the reel apps (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube), never your music or other apps, and you never switch away from the video.
Share directly to BS Meter
In Instagram or Facebook, open the reel, tap Share and choose BS Meter. The reel plays silently in its own lightweight window, this phone hears the words, and every factual claim is verified.
Floating meter & audio capture
For a video this phone is already playing. The floating meter coin sits over the video and listens when you tap it, and the audio never leaves the phone.
Take a photo or choose a saved picture
A screenshot of a post is checked the same way a reel is: claims are often not in the text but in a doctored axis or deceptive diagram caption. The visual artifact itself is inspected.
Claim breakdown with primary sources.
Sample claim. Sources are placeholders.
(sample) The Great Wall of China is visible from the Moon.
It is not visible from the Moon, and astronauts have said so repeatedly.
- • It is not visible from the Moon, and astronauts have said so repeatedly.
- • At that distance it would need to be thousands of times wider.

Everything you’ve checked.
Kept on this phone. Nothing is synced anywhere.
A clinical instrument, not a moral judge.
BS Meter audits assertions, never people. It does not attempt to divine psychological intent, psychoanalyze creators, or label anyone a liar. We engineer according to three strict tenets:
Two questions kept separate.
Whether the underlying individual facts are true, and whether the video’s broader narrative follows from them. A reel can get every date and statistic 100% accurate, yet arrange them to produce a conclusion that is entirely false.
“Not settled” is a finding, not an accusation.
When evidence in the peer-reviewed world doesn’t conclusively settle a topic, or when credible archives disagree, the app explicitly reports it as unsettled. We refuse to force nuanced scientific or economic tension into an artificial true/false binary.
Honesty line: it will sometimes be wrong.
Automated claim-parsing is not infallible. That is why the exact rationale, quoted counter-evidence, and primary citations are always displayed alongside the label—so you can inspect our audit and decide for yourself whether the conclusion stands.
Privacy facts. No marketing spin.
We built BS Meter for ourselves first. We don’t want an audit tool reading our personal photo libraries or building a profile on what videos we watch at midnight.
Audio stays on your phone
Video files and microphone recordings never leave your device. Speech-to-text models parse spoken words locally on your phone hardware; only extracted claim text strings are sent for cross-referencing.
Zero ad tracking SDKs
No third-party trackers, no advertising identifier hooks, and no behavioral surveillance brokers. We ship an instrument, not a dossier on your feed habits.
Account sync for allowances
You sign in with Google so your monthly allowance follows you to a new phone. That is the only account detail kept.
Free allowance every month
Every user receives a free allowance of checks each month. For high-volume news consumers or investigators, two tiered plans are available through standard Google Play billing.
Audit the next reel that crosses your feed.
