Every figure is worked out from the records. Nothing is typed over the top. So the board packet, the fund report and a donor's statement can never disagree, and nobody has to ask which one is right.

0% of every gift goes to Almoner. It never collects a donation, so there is no card fee for it to replace, and none for it to add.
Ministry is a monthly subscription — card through Stripe on the web, where the first 30 days are free, or Google Play on Android. Cancel any time: the church keeps Ministry to the end of the month it has paid for, and every record stays in the app on Free. The Pocket App Company is the seller.

How it is different
Four rules the app is built on.
It does the treasurer's job, not the church office's. Import, report, statements. There is nothing else to learn.
Every figure is worked out, never typed. Three reports on one month always agree.
Statements are netted and honest. Refunds come off, and the donors left out are named.
It is a giving ledger and a report writer. No double-entry bookkeeping, no bank reconciliation. It replaces the spreadsheet, not the accountant.

Is there a free plan?
Yes — imports, monthly and fund reports, the board packet PDF, year-end statements and standard summaries, no card, no time limit. Ministry is $69.99 a month for pledges and other income, trends and lapsed givers, emailed statements, count-sheet capture, team logins and unlimited summaries; on the web the first 30 days are free.
Does Almoner take donations?
No. It never handles a gift and takes no percentage of one — it reports on giving that has already reached the church, and reads the export from Tithe.ly, Planning Center Giving or your bank.
Where does the giving data come from?
Import the CSV your bank or platform exports (Planning Center, Breeze, Tithe.ly, QuickBooks and more — columns matched automatically, mapping checked by you), type a count sheet, or dictate the plate. Duplicate detection stops a file being counted twice.
How do year-end giving statements work?
Pick the year: one PDF per donor, refunds netted, so nobody is thanked for the wrong amount. It names what it left out — anonymous gifts, donors whose year netted to nothing — and Ministry churches can email the batch.
Is it accounting software?
No — it is a giving ledger and a report writer, with no double-entry bookkeeping and no bank reconciliation. It replaces the treasurer's spreadsheet, not the church's accountant.
What is the board packet?
A PDF for the month just closed: total received, gifts, donors, year to date, month over month, by fund and by payment method, with a plain-English summary. Ministry can email the headline numbers to the board on the 1st.
Can more than one person share the books?
Yes — a second counter or co-treasurer joins with an invite code. Inviting a teammate is a Ministry feature.
Are the numbers reliable?
Every figure is computed the same way from the same rows, so three reports on one month cannot disagree. The import shows what it read and flags odd or duplicated rows; read the written summary before it reaches the board, because prose can be wrong when the figures are right.
Is it for a particular denomination?
No. Almoner carries a plain cross, an olive branch and a few widely shared verses, nothing specific to one tradition.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet — Almoner runs on Android and in any browser today, including an iPhone's browser at https://almoner-pocketboss.web.app. A native iPhone app is planned, with no date promised.
What happens to our records if we cancel?
The church keeps Ministry to the end of the month it paid for, then drops to Free, every record still in the app. Data exports any time; deleting the account erases it within 30 days.
Where is our data stored?
On Google Firebase; emails go through SendGrid and the written summaries run through Anthropic on our own key. Nothing is sold or used for advertising — details are in the privacy policy.
